So I found out that Van Halen is playing at Madison Square Garden. I went to the box office to buy tickets and they wanted like $150 for a seat. They must be joking. I can just listen to them on my mp3 player while eating at the best steakhouse in town, then get drunk on the most expensive Belgian trappist ale at a bar in the meat-packing district, and still have $80 left in my pocket after the cab ride home. So I gave up on the idea, but then one of my good friends texted me out of the blue and said he had free tickets and would I like to go? Hell yes!
Normally the only band I get excited to see is Iron Maiden which is like a religious experience for me. But Van Halen is going to be pretty good even though I don’t think Eddie plays as good as he did when he was drunk all the time. Technically speaking he is better now that he is sober, but when he was lit up on stage back in the 1980′s there was this magic that came out of his fingers. Incredible. He’s got his son Wolfgang on bass now that Michael Anthony left the band who apparently inherited his father’s talent. Anyway, I can’t talk about saw palmetto every day, and everyone loves Van Halen anyway!
