One of the new things I do is I take all my vitamins and I open up the capsules and pour the contents into my Kitchen Aid blender and I throw in tablets too. I figured with the amount of capsules I swallow, why give my stomach any extra work? Better to just mix it all up and drink it. You know what? It tastes great and I always throw in some NOW brand cherry-berry vitamin C tablets which maximize absorption. That’s actually why small amounts of vitamin C are in so many nutritional supplements – the vitamin C acts as a carrier agent.
Anyway, I can’ t sing the praises enough about my Kitchen Aid blender. Studies by both Popular Mechanics and Consumer Reports show this $50 (on ebay) blender outperforms the Vitamix and the Blendtec which are like $400-$500. It only has a 1 horsepower motor, but the blade and container design employs superior physics. It’s also built like a tank.
Too bad I only use it for mixing up vitamins, but it does destroy tablets in a snap. I don’t throw herbs in there like saw palmetto, but I am sure it would blend them up just fine as well. Blenders are especially good for getting as much MSM as possible into a given volume of water.
