I am very excited that The Walking Dead returns tonight to television. Now you may ask yourself, “Why the hell is Plato talking about zombie films?” Well, let me tell you a story…
When I was a child, I was really terrified of zombie films – actually very disturbed by them. As I got older, I began to accept that I was really horrified at the fact that life is filled with real zombies. Once I could accept the world around me, I fell in love with zombie films because they provided me with a catharsis.
It is no surprise that the father of all zombie films, George A. Romero, originally intended his films like “Dawn of the Dead” to be satire on modern consumer culture. The godfather of Italian horror films in the early 1980′s, Lucio Fulci, tied the astrological energy of Saturn into his zombie films.
As I get older, I find the world not getting any better, and find myself basically a reverse-zombie. A reverse-zombie is a living person who eats zombies instead of the other way around. Of course I am talking metaphorically here… but having relationships with women who aren’t “present” and supplementing with internet porn is really like eating the dead, is it not? I guess it’s better then eating saw palmetto, no?
